When it comes to the feelings that drive us, there are many to choose from. Excitement, sadness, anger, curiosity, and hunger are some just to name a few. However, for me, there is one feeling in particular which not only soars above all others, but is actually what led to my interest in photography in the first place. That feeling is adrenaline, when time seems to move differently, where every second counts, and the stakes are the highest.
At first, it was just a hobby to watch adrenaline inducing activities. Watching people cliff dive, climb up steep terrains, or even people filming themselves speeding down the highway on their obnoxiously loud motorcycle. However, eventually the consumption of adrenaline inducing media wasn't enough, and I sought to experience it for myself. I began to explore abandoned buildings, often times finding myself at the peak of adventure, walking into the unknown and long untouched. With every little noise and movement in a building left to rot, I would feel my heart rate spike, and my senses elevate to the max possible level. I soon took this to the city as well, often trying to find bars and resteraunts that could get me as high as possible above the city skyline. Like in the picture above, even something as simple as putting your hand on the edge as you look over into the abyss of megastructures we have created is enough to enhance how you feel in the moment.
However, as time went on and I examined why I liked to feel this way, I also found other outlets which let me experience adrenaline but with safer conditions than urban exploration or rooftopping skyscrapers. Whether it is joining a boxing gym, going to festivals and raves, or exploring nature while hiking in different countries, I am still able to find the feeling without taking as much risk in doing so. In 7 years of taking photos, my hunger for adventure has never ceased, and now as I travel I am so grateful to be able to have a new expedition every single day as I move across various landscapes and cities. To be able to keep every day unique, and more than anything to refrain from having a static mind while learning so much about the world around me.
